Zelia Branco Obituary

Zelia Faria Branco, 86, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully at her home in East Providence, RI, on Monday, February 26, 2024. Born on October 28, 1937, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Zelia was the cherished daughter of the late Joao and Etelvina Estrela (Sousa) Correia. She was the loving wife of the late Joao Costa Branco, a devoted mother to Sandra F. Sicard and Robert J. Harty, Jr., and a caring sister to Joao Correia, Norbina Fatala, Guilhermina Messier, Esmaralda Pereira, Coralia Estrela, Liberal Correia, and the late Vincent Correia. Zelia's legacy extends to many adoring nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness and warmth.

Zelia's journey took her from the picturesque landscapes of the Azores to the vibrant communities of Rhode Island, where she established her life and family. Her work ethic and craftsmanship were evident in her many years of dedicated service as an embroiderer for the Healhtex corporation, and her meticulous skills were further displayed through her tenure with the esteemed Monet and Trifari Jewelry Companies.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Zelia was known for her fervent faith and the love she poured into her family. She had a passion for life’s simple pleasures, finding joy in the art of gardening, where she cultivated beauty just as she nurtured her family. Her hands, ever-creative, were often found dancing with crochet hooks, creating intricate patterns that mirrored the complexity and beauty of her life.

Zelia’s love for coloring brought vibrant hues to her world, reminiscent of her own colorful spirit. Travel was another of Zelia’s passions, as she explored new places, immersing herself in different cultures, and creating lasting memories. However, it was in her kitchen where Zelia’s heart truly resided, as she cooked meals that not only nourished the body but also the soul, bringing her family together in laughter and conversation.

Her selfless nature was a guiding force for all who knew her, with her actions always speaking louder than words. Zelia's presence was a comfort, her advice a treasure, and her love a constant that will be deeply missed.

As we mourn the loss of Zelia Faria Branco, we also celebrate her remarkable life, one that was filled with an unwavering faith, boundless love, and a generosity of spirit that touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy will live on through the lives of her beloved family and the countless memories they shared.

Zelia's journey through life was a testament to the values she held dear—love, faith, and selflessness. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her family, who take solace in knowing that she is now at peace.

In honor of Zelia's extraordinary life, her family will gather in private to share stories, laughter, and tears, remembering a life well-lived and a woman well-loved.
