Wilbert Eugene Dorsey, Jr.

Warwick – Wilbert E. “Sonny” Dorsey, Jr., 87 of Warwick passed away on Wednesday January 18, 2023, at his son’s home, surrounded by his family.

Sonny was the former husband of Doris (Butler) Dorsey of Warwick.

He was born in Queens, New York City, the son of the late Wilbert E.  Dorsey. Sr., and the late Florence (Delomba) Dorsey.

Sonny was a mail courier for the State of Rhode Island for over 35 years, before retiring.

He has lived in Warwick since 1993 coming from Pawtucket, East Providence, and Providence previously.

Sonny liked to travel, play golf, he was a caddy for many years at Metacomet.

He also like watching racehorses.

Besides his former wife he is survived by his children Thomas Dorsey of Warwick, Duane Dorsey of Warwick, and Karen Johnson of Providence.

He was the brother of Shirley Colafrancesco of East Providence.

Sonny was the grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 14, and the great great grandfather of 1.

Sonny is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was the longtime companion of the late Nancy Tyler, and brother of the late Ronald Dorsey and the late Barbara Richards.
