Nelson Eugenio Obituary

Riverside - Nelson C. Eugenio,56, known affectionately as Nelson to his friends and family, passed away peacefully, on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Hope Hospice in Providence, with his loving wife and family at his side. Born on September 19, 1967, in the charming town of Vila Franca Do Campo, Azores, Nelson carried the warmth of his hometown throughout his life, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went.

Nelson was the beloved husband of Deneen (Vastano) Eugenio, with whom he shared many beautiful moments, including their love for dance and travel. He was the cherished son of Adega (Ferreira) Eugenio of Riverside  and the late Antonio Eugenio, Sr. and the loving father to Seth Eugenio of Riverside, Nicholas Barlow of Riverside, and Chelsea Eugenio of North Providence. His legacy of love and humor will live on through his family, including his brother Antonio Eugenio Jr. of Rumford, his sister Elisabeth Eugenio of Minnesota, and his sister Helen "Lenny" Burbank of Alabama. Nelson's life was further enriched by his enduring friendship with Jeannie Cancellieri of North Providence, the mother of his children Chelsea and Seth. His extended family of many nieces and nephews will remember him fondly, as will his loyal dog, Murdock, who was a constant source of companionship and joy.

A proud graduate of Hope High School's Class of 1986 in Providence, Nelson's educational foundation paved the way for his successful career. He honed his skills under the mentorship of the late Paul Scotto, before taking on the role of Master Electrician for The Preserve in Richmond, RI, where he dedicated the last four years of his professional life. Nelson's work ethic and expertise were unmatched, and his colleagues will remember him as a guiding light and a source of unwavering support.

Nelson's interests were as diverse and vibrant as his personality. In the 1980s, he joined his brother and father as members of the Holy Rosary Band, showcasing his musical talents on the clarinet and snare drum. His sense of humor was infectious; Nelson was a joker who loved to laugh and make others laugh with him. He had a passion for music, gardening, and spending time outdoors, taking pride in his lawn and the beauty of nature. Nelson's zest for life was evident in his love for travel and the simple pleasure of dancing with his wife, Deneen.

Those who knew Nelson would describe him as funny, loving, and interesting—a man who brought light into the lives of others. His presence was a gift, and his ability to find joy in everyday moments was a lesson in how to live life to the fullest. Nelson's impact on his community and the hearts of those around him will be remembered and cherished forever.

As we bid farewell to Nelson C. Eugenio, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with laughter, love, and the pursuit of happiness. He has left an indelible mark on the world, and while he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to inspire us all. Nelson's journey on earth may have come to a close, but the memories he created and the love he shared will resonate for generations to come.
