Marie Josephine (Matteo) Hornig

Riverside – Marie J. (Matteo) Hornig, 79, of Riverside, passed away on Saturday, November 19,2022 at the Orchard View Manor.

She was born in Providence the daughter of the late Anthony R. Matteo and Teresa (Gaynor) Matteo.

Marie has lived in Riverside for 53 years coming Newport and Attleboro.

She was a Human Resources worker for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield, for many years before retiring.

Marie was a Parishioner of St. Brendan Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, listening to music, dancing and especially loved spending time with her family.

Marie is survived by her children Carl Hornig of Pawtucket, Kirk Hornig of Riverside, Gautama Girard of Seekonk, and Roxanne Levesque of Pawtucket.

She was the sister of Robert Matteo of Warwick, Elana “Lonnie” Reis of West Greenwich, and Althea Blair of Key Largo, Florida.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marie was the grandmother of Kendra, Jason, Tori, Angie, Larry, and Jakob.

Marie was the mother of the late Christina Ryan.

A Prayer service will be held on Tuesday, November 29,2022 at 5:00pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00- 6:00pm, in the funeral home.
