East Providence - Maria E. (Estrella) Terceira, 89, a resident of East Providence since 1989, passed away peacefully at her home on August 16, 2023. Born on February 25, 1934, in, Rabo De Peixe, Sao Miguel Azores, Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who will be remembered for her loving nature, infectious humor, and selfless devotion to her family.
Maria was the cherished wife of the late Jose Andrade Terceira and the beloved daughter of the late Henrique and Alexandrina (Medeiros) Estrella. She was a dedicated mother to her children: Jose F. Terceira and his wife Paula of West Warwick, Antonio M. Terceira and his wife Leonor of Rumford, Domingos C. Terceira of East Providence, Antero "Andy" E. Terceira and his wife Lisa of Johnston, Eduardo M. Terceira and his partner Lucia Cunha of West Warwick, and Kathleen Martinez and her husband Osvaldo of East Providence. Her love and devotion extended to her siblings, Adelina Andrade of Sao Miguel, Lurdes Flor of Toronto Canada, and the late Manuel Estrella, Jose Estrella, Alexandria Carreiro.
Maria was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She treasured her grandchildren Jessica Lacerda, Lisa Terceira, Eric Terceira, Andrew Terceira, Kayla Terceira - Solomon, Kyle Solomon, Leah Terceira, and Jesse "JJ" Cardarelli, Jr. Her great-grandchildren Kaylianna, Lillianna, Jayce, Kylie, Gia, and Jaxon brought immense joy to her life, as did her many nieces and nephews.
Maria built a career as a Machine Operator for over 15 years at the former Lincoln Lace and Braid Company. She was a diligent and hardworking woman, who took great pride in her work. Despite her professional commitments, Maria always prioritized her family and faith. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, while living in the Fox Point section of Providence, prior to moving to East Providence.
Maria's interests extended beyond her family and work. She had a beautiful spirit that was reflected in her love for her flowers, which she tended to with great care. However, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Maria's home was the epicenter of many family gatherings, where her humor and love created countless cherished memories.
Maria will be remembered as a loving and caring woman, who always put the needs of others before her own. Her selflessness was a beacon of light that guided her family and friends. Maria's funny nature brought laughter and joy to all those around her, making every moment shared with her a delightful experience.
Maria E. (Estrella) Terceira's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Though Maria is no longer with us, her love, humor, and selfless nature will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Her funeral will be held Monday August 21, 2023, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Chirstian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
