Maria Ines Lucero (Toro) Ramos, 80, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away
Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Crestwood Nursing Home, Warren, R.I. She was
the wife of the late Rodrigo Espinoza Ramos.
Born April 20, 1942, in Rengo, Chilé, she was the daughter of the late Enrique and Glafira (Magaña) Lucero.
Mrs. Ramos immigrated to the United States on her twenty-fourth birthday in 1965. She met her late husband in an adult English class the following year. She worked in domestic care and went on to run a home daycare for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and meeting people from all walks of life. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Washington, D.C.
She is survived by her son, Steven Ramos of Birmingham, Alabama, her daughter,
Olinda Matos and her husband Luis of Providence, Rhode Island, and a brother and sister in Chilé, Ernesto and Rosa Lucero Toro. She was also the sister to the late Elba, Jose, Mario, Hector, Edmundo, Alberto, and Graciela Lucero Toro of Chilé. She was aunt to many dear nieces and nephews in Chilé and to Miriam Lucero Muñoz of Silver Spring, Maryland.
Mrs. Ramos was the beloved grandmother “abuela” to Giovanni (Gino), Steven (Nico), and Michael (Mikey) Ramos, and Gabriel and Eva Matos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, Traverse Street, Providence, R.I. Burial will take place on Monday May 9, 2022, at 10:00 am at The Chapel of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wampanoag Trail, Riverside, R.I.
Calling Hours will be held Saturday, from 12:00-2:30 pm at the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, R.I. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Clinica Esperanza/Hope Clinic, 60 Valley Street, Suite 104, Providence, RI 02909.
