Maria Mota Obituary

East Providence - Maria A. (Jardin) Mota,86, a loving and faith-filled woman known for her humor and dedication to family, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023, at RI Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on March 8, 1937, in Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel G. Jardin and Adelina R. Ramos, Maria lived a life full of joy, love, and service to others.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Joao DaMota and a devoted mother to her son, Jose M. Furtado, and his wife, Filomena of East Providence. Her love for her family extended beyond her immediate relatives. She was the cherished sister of Manuel G. Jardin, Jr., of the Azores and a doting grandmother to Joseph Furtado and his wife, Debra of East Providence. Maria was also blessed to be the great-grandmother of Camilia and Lucia Furtado, who brought immense joy to her later years. She was also a dear aunt to Nelinha Jardin of Sao Miguel.

In her professional life, Maria was a dedicated worker, serving as a stringer for Excell Jewelry Manufacturing for over a decade. Her reliability and diligence were appreciated by her colleagues, and she often spoke fondly of her time there. Maria was a woman of deep faith and was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She found great solace and community in her faith and was always eager to lend a hand to church activities.

Maria was an avid baker, known for her delicious cakes that were the highlight of many family gatherings. Her interest in baking was just one of the ways she expressed her love for her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones, creating memories that her family will cherish forever.

In addition to her love for baking, Maria had a green thumb and found great joy in gardening. She took pride in her yard, nurturing every plant with care and patience. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit and her ability to create beauty wherever she went. She also had a knack for sewing, creating beautiful pieces for her home and as gifts for her loved ones.

Maria will be remembered as a woman of strength, humor, and faith. Her love for life was infectious, and she had a way of making those around her feel special and loved. Maria's legacy will live on through the love she shared, the family she nurtured, and the faith she held dear. Her memory will be a beacon of love, laughter, and faith to all who knew her. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to all.
