Maria Maroto Obituary

Maria O. (Rodrigues) Maroto, 85, a cherished and loving figure in her community, passed away peacefully in her home in East Providence, Rhode Island, on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Born on September 2, 1938, in Ribeira Seca, Sao Miguel, Portugal, to the late Agostinho Rodrigues Peixoto and Angelina DaSilva (Almeida) Peixoto, Maria was a beacon of warmth and generosity throughout her 85 years of life.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Armindo F. Maroto, with whom she shared a life full of love and dedication. Together, they raised a beautiful family, instilling values of kindness and compassion in their children. She was a devoted mother to Luis C. Maroto and his wife Andrea of Portsmouth, Armindo Maroto and his wife Donna of Rumford, and Stephen Maroto and his wife Sara of Rumford. Her role as a grandmother to Bradley, Matthew, Michael and his wife Chrissy, Melinda, and Alexandra was one she treasured deeply, filling their lives with joy and endless support.

Her siblings held a special place in her heart, especially her brother Fernando A Rodrigues of Lisbon, and she fondly remembered her late brothers Manuel A. Rodrigues, Agostinho A Rodrigues, and Jacinto De Almeida Rodrigues. Maria's extended family, including many nieces and nephews, will forever cherish her memory and the love she so freely gave.

Maria's work ethic was admirable. She spent over 17 years as an assembler at Davol Rubber Company, followed by more than 8 years at Monet Jewelry Company, where she applied her meticulous skills in jewelry assembly. Her colleagues knew her as a diligent and friendly presence, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Maria's spirit of service extended beyond her professional life. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Church, where her faith and sense of community were evident. Her love for cooking was matched only by her joy in sharing meals with those she loved. Maria's home was often filled with the delicious aromas of traditional Portuguese cuisine, and her kitchen was the heart of many family gatherings.

Those who knew Maria will remember her as a loving, generous, and thoughtful person, qualities that she embodied every day. She was a good-hearted soul who never hesitated to help anyone in need, and her actions were a testament to her character.

As we bid farewell to Maria, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life marked by devotion to family, dedication to work, and a kindness that touched everyone she met. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Maria's life will be honored and remembered by all her family and friends. As we reflect on her life, we hold dear the memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared. Maria O. (Rodrigues) Maroto will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will remain with us, guiding and comforting us through the days ahead.
