Providence - Maria Manuela (Rodrigues) Medeiros, affectionately known as Manuela, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on November 9, 2023, at the RI Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on April 20, 1948, in Ponte Delgada, Azores, Portugal, she was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Jose (Faria) Rodrigues.
Maria was the loving wife of Antonio Manuel Medeiros. Their enduring and loving relationship spanned over 53 years, a testament to their strong commitment and deep affection for each other. She was a devoted mother to Michael Medeiros and his wife Liandra of Providence, and Michelle Medeiros of Bristol. Maria was a cherished sister to Arsenio Rodrigues of Toronto, Canada, and Juvy Rodrigues of Providence. She was predeceased by her siblings Januario Dias, Fernando Rodrigues, Joaquim Rodrigues, and Zelia Dias. Maria's love also extended to her numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.
A hardworking woman, Maria spent over 45 years as a private duty housekeeper. She took great pride in her work, and the homes she cared for were always maintained with the utmost attention and care. Her dedication and commitment to her work were evident in every task she undertook.
Maria had a variety of interests that kept her busy in her free time. She was an avid reader, often seen with a book in hand, engrossed in a captivating story. She also enjoyed watching soap operas, a pastime that provided her with much relaxation and entertainment. However, her true passion was cooking for her family. Her kitchen was a place of love and warmth, where she crafted meals that brought everyone together. Maria was the "glue" that held her family together, always ensuring that everyone was well-fed and happy. She was very giving, courageous and selfless woman.
In addition to her love for her family, Maria was a dedicated caretaker of her husband, Antonio. Her devotion to his wellbeing was evident in her tireless efforts to ensure his comfort and happiness. Maria's love for her husband was a shining example of the deep commitment and affection that characterized their relationship.
Maria was best described as a loving, thoughtful, and faith-filled person. Her kindness and generosity were known to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a woman of deep faith, which guided her throughout her life and provided her with a sense of peace and solace.
Maria's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she touched with her kindness and love. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday November 16, 2023, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence.
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the funeral home.
