Louis Anthony Serio, Jr.

Louis Anthony Serio Jr passed after a short battle with Glioblastoma on April 26,2022 at Nottingham Health and Rehab in Olathe, Kansas.

Lou was born on September 11, 1962 to Jean and Louis Serio in Providence RI. He was the oldest of three siblings. The family was raised in Swansea, MA. Lou is survived by his wife, Kim, his son Evan, his mother Jean, his sister Karen and her husband Leon, his brother Steve {the late Karen) and his two nieces, Allyson and Nicole. He was also the step father to William and Christina, and grandfather to Emilyn.

Lou was predeceased by his father and his beloved son, Dylan.

Rev. Serio was an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and held special standing as a minister authorized for Chaplaincy at the Kansas Oklahoma region of the UCC. He was a board-certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains and an ACPE Certified Clinical Pastoral Educator (National Faculty) since 2016. Most recently, Rev Serio served as Director of Pastoral Education at St. Luke's Health System in Kansas City, MO. Prior to that, Lou was one of the three system office directors of Spiritual Care at Trinity Health in Livonia, Ml, responsible for the East Coast Spiritual Care departments for TH. As such, Lou was also a National Mission Leader with TH.

Lou earned a BA in history from UMASS in 1984 a, Juris Doctorate from Western New England University in 1987 and a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School in 2006. In 2020, Lou earned a certificate of management and Leadership of Spiritual Care at Rush University, Chicago, IL.

For the past 23 years, Lou has been an adjunct Professor at Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA, leading classes in Ethics and Intro to Philosophy, Public Speaking, World Religions, and Coping with Life and Death. Lou also taught at Smith College, North Hampton, MA in the post graduate degree program in Palliative Care.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday May 18, 2022, at 6:30pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4:00pm-7:00pm in the funeral home.
