Linda M. (Stanley) Faxon
February 11, 1940 ~ November 3, 2023 (age 83) 83 Years Old
Linda Stanley Faxon - February 11, 1940 - November 3, 2023
Daughter of Mary Elizabeth Stanley and Charles Leonard Stanley, Linda (Grammy) was born in Albany, NY on February 11, 1940. She grew up with her sisters Joan and Carol in Poughkeepsie, NY. She attended Green Mountain College in Vermont where she met her future husband Brad Faxon, who was attending Norwich University. Linda loved golfing, playing bridge, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune! She could knock out the New York Times Crossword puzzle as adeptly as anyone. Linda enjoyed going to lunch at the Lobster Pot or Wharf Tavern to enjoy the occasional lobster. She was equally happy at the Newport Creamery for a cheeseburger or the “Hot Bird” from Gregg’s! She was a connoisseur of chocolate chip cookies.
She always wanted to look nice, well dressed and presented. She epitomized the phrase that you ‘only have one chance to make a first impression.’ Linda always had a smile on her face. Everyone had lovely things to say about her. She will be remembered as a good cook and happy to entertain on a moments notice.
Linda was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Mother-in-law, and friend. She is survived by her son Brad Faxon and his wife Dory, and her daughter, Lee Faxon. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Melanie Faxon, Emily Faxon, Sophie Faxon, and Charlotte Faxon, her nieces, Kathy Sawyer, Sue Luckfield, Ann Crowley and Jeanne Luckfield, her nephew Chuck Markson and his wife Linda, her grandniece and nephews Linnea Markson, Christian Markson, and Jimmy Sawyer.
A private celebration of life be held in the future. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers please consider a small donation to the Andrade Faxon Charities for Children. Linda loved the fact that so many needy children in Rhode Island were able to be helped. You can hit the link here and hit the donate tab: https://andradefaxoncharities.org/
