Liduina J. (Bairos) DeSousa

East Providence – Liduina J. (Bairos) DeSousa, 76, of East Providence, passed away on Monday April 10,2023 at RI Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Antonio DeSousa, they were married for over 56 years.

Liduina was born in Graca, Almagreira, Santa Maria, Azores, the daughter of the late Jacinto and Virginia (Andrade) Bairos.

She was a self-employed seamstress for many years. Mrs. DeSousa has lived in East Providence since 1978 coming from Bermuda, she was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, and she enjoyed cooking, sewing and cleaning and also visiting Santa Maria Island.

Besides her husband she is survived by her children Paul and Hilary DeSousa of Dighton, Lucy and John Perry of Riverside, Maria and Agnelo Bairos of Rehoboth, Nancy and Steve Cortinheiro of Rehoboth.

She also leaves 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

Liduina was the grandmother of Melissa , Brittany, Brandon, Amanda, Jaimie, Kacie, Aden, Melina.

She was the great grandmother of Addy, Julian, Axel, Declan, and she was also awaiting the arrival of her future great granddaughter, very soon .

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Liduina was the God mother of the late Kevin Pereira.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday April 12, 2023 at 8:00am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5650 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Wednesday MORNING from 8:00am – 9:30am at the funeral home.
