Kenneth McKenna Obituary

Pawtucket - Kenneth M. McKenna, 69, known affectionately to friends and family as Ken, passed away peacefully at his home in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Born on June 28, 1954, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Ken's life was characterized by his loving nature, his humorous spirit, and his thoughtful approach to the world around him.

Ken was a cherished husband to Ida Macedo (Cabral) McKenna, with whom he shared countless moments of joy and companionship. He was a devoted son of the late Jeffrey and Doris (Cournoyer) McKenna, and a treasured father to Scott McKenna of Bluffton, South Carolina, Robert Simas, Keren Blacksmith of Woonsocket, Linda Simas, and Silvia Crone. Ken's legacy also lives on through his brother, Wayne McKenna of Coventry, his sister, Joanne McKenna of Woonsocket, and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense happiness to his life. His numerous nieces and nephews will forever hold dear the memories of their kind-hearted uncle.

Professionally, Ken dedicated 15 years of his life as a limousine driver for Sentinel Limousine, a role that showcased his punctuality, reliability, and the care he took in his work. Prior to settling in Pawtucket eight years ago, he was a long-time resident of the Fox Point section of Providence, Rhode Island. Ken was a committed member of the North Attleboro Church of Christ, where he found spiritual solace and a community of like-minded individuals.

Ken's passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. He found great joy in playing the guitar and writing songs, talents that he shared generously with all who had the pleasure of listening. Cruises and fishing trips were among his favorite escapes, where he could bask in the beauty of nature and the tranquility of the open water. Ken's leadership qualities shone through during his time as the past president of the Shamrock Society of North Providence, where he made lasting contributions and forged enduring friendships. He also had written a book titled The Little Black Bauble.

Above all, Ken was a gentle soul who cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. His presence at family gatherings was a source of warmth and laughter, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

In remembering Ken, we reflect on a life lived with intention and kindness. His ability to brighten a room with his humor, to touch hearts with his music, and to lead with compassion will be missed by all. Ken's impact on the world was as profound as it was subtle, and the fond memories he created will serve as a guiding light for his loved ones in the years to come.

Kenneth Michael McKenna's journey on earth has come to a close, but the love he shared and the lives he touched will resonate eternally. He has left behind a tapestry of relationships and accomplishments that will never be forgotten, a testament to the extraordinary life he led. Ken will be lovingly remembered as a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
