Joyce C. Roy,72 of Barrington, RI passed away after a courageous battle with Leukemia on April 10, 2023. Born in Providence, RI to the late Anthony, and Sarah (Cotoia) Cunha.
She was preceded in death by her husband’s Robert Cavanaugh and Raymond Roy.
She was a loving and devoted mother of Robert Cavanaugh Jr. and his wife Theresa, Carla DeVita and her husband David, and her late son Edward Cavanaugh.
She had the support of an amazing family which included the late Edward Cunha, Anthony Cunha, and his surviving wife Patricia, and was survived by brother Joseph Cunha and his wife Paula, Sisters Ann Marie Abatiello, Jean Zeilstra and her husband the late David Zeilstra, Ron Lutrario, and his wife Paula.
Joyce’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Sarah, Gabriella, Alex, Tyler, Samantha, James, Racheal, Robert, Isabella, Alexis, Henry, Aiden, and Natalie. Equally important in her life were her many nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews who she loved very much.
She had a special bond with her great niece and nephews David, Patrick, and Willow. One of Joyce’s greatest joys was cooking for those she loved.
Joyce wanted to thank her sister Ann Marie, for her support and prayers through her courageous battle with Leukemia.
Joyce was incredibly grateful for her supportive, caring, twin sister, Jean who took care of her and provided a loving, caring, and relaxing home.
She wanted to give thanks to the doctors and nurses in the Cancer Center at Rhode Island hospital and Hope hospice center, who helped her through the journey as she fought Leukemia for 4 years.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday April 15, 2023, at 3pm, at 52 Talcott St., Barrington, RI 02806.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
