Jose` A. Pereira Sousa

Swansea - Jose A. Pereira Sousa, 73, of Swansea, passed away on Thursday May 26, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

Jose` was the husband of Maria A (Teotonio) Sousa, they have been married for over 52 years.

He was born in Sao Miguel Azores, the son of the late Antonio and Alvina (Pereira) Sousa.

Mr. Sousa was a Laundry Supervisor at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital for over 11 years.

He has lived in Swansea for over 45 years, coming from Rehoboth.

Jose` was a former parishioner of St. Dominic Church, Swansea.

He enjoyed camping, Mr. Sousa was previously a supervisor at Women and Infants Hospital for over 10 years.

Beside his wife he is survived by his son Robert Michael Sousa and his wife Jennifer of Swansea, his daughter Anna Paula Sousa of Swansea.

He was the brother of Lidia Tavares of Warren and Connie Sousa of Swansea, and also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sousa was the grandfather of Brandon Lee Kadlec, Dillon Lee Sousa, Aiden Robert Sousa and Ashton Joseph Sousa.

Jose` was the brother of the late Eduardo “Eddy” DeSousa, and the late Otilia Medeiros.

His funeral will be held Thursday June 2, 2022, at 9:00am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Wednesday June 1, 2022, from 4:00pm -7:00pm, at the funeral home.
