Jose Antonio Medeiros

Providence- Jose` A. Medeiros, 70, of Providence, passed away on Monday January 16, 2023, at R.I. Hospital, Providence.

He was longtime partner of Maria Lurdes Amaral.

Jose` was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Jose Paulino Medeiros and Maria Rosa (Moreira) Medeiros.

He was a Machine Operator for the Plymouth Rubber Company for over 28 years, before retiring.

Jose was a member of the Portuguese Army, while living in Portugal.

He has been a Providence resident since 1975 coming from Portugal. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

Jose was a lifetime member of the Portuguese Sporting Club in Providence, and a devoted Holy Ghost Trinity member, of the Braga Club.

He also enjoyed watching Benfica and the San Francisco 49ers.

Besides Maria he is survived by 4 stepsons Antonio Amaral of Azores, Portugal, Albert Amaral of Foster, Roger Amaral of Cranston and Michael Amaral of Cranston. A stepdaughter Lori Amaral of Johnston.

He was the brother of Joao` Medeiros of Coventry, David Medeiros of Fall River, MA, and Fernando Medeiros.

Mr. Medeiros also leaves a nephew Anthony Medeiros of Cranston.

He was the grandfather of 10, and the great grandfather of 2.

He was the brother of the late Lidia Maria Decourcey.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2023, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Monday from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the funeral home.
