Janet Andrews Obituary

Riverside - Janet Marie (Ferreira) Andrews,78, affectionately known as Janet, passed away peacefully at her home in Riverside, RI, on February 22, 2024. She was born on April 28, 1945, in Providence, RI, to the late Antone and Clara (Vincent) Ferreira. Janet's life was a rich tapestry of love, dedication, and service, woven through the roles she cherished as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

For over 25 years, Janet served as the business manager for Instatron Company, where her professionalism and warmth left a lasting impression on her colleagues. Her work was not just a job; it was an extension of her innate ability to nurture and manage with both strength and compassion.

Janet's roots ran deep in East Providence, where she resided for more than 58 years, coming from Bristol. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Brendan Church, where her faith and community were integral parts of her life. Her interests reflected the love she had for her home and family. An avid gardener, she found joy in the beauty and tranquility of her surroundings. Janet was also a phenomenal cook, whose dishes were the centerpiece of family gatherings, and a person who took pride in her home, ensuring it was always welcoming and immaculate.

Family was the cornerstone of Janet's world. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Andrews Sr., and a guiding light to her children: William J. Andrews, Jr. of East Providence, Christine Neves and Kevin Bullock of Riverside. Her siblings, Erick Ferreira of Pawtucket and Deborah McCarthy and her husband Charles of Riverside, will fondly remember their sister's loving and gentle spirit. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward Ferreira Sr. and Sonny Ferreira, and her sister, Lois Parsch.

Janet's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Nicole Neves and her spouse Edward O'Sullivan, Jessica Neves, Matthew Neves, William J. Andrews, III, Devon Andrews, Carter Ferreira, Erica Ferreira of East Providence and Marie Costa. Her great-grandchildren, Christian O’Sullivan, Matthew John James Neves, and Ryann Douglas Neves will grow up hearing stories of their great grandmother's kindness and warmth. Her nephews, Shawn McCarthy of Riverside, Kevin McCarthy of Swansea, and Michael McCarthy of Warwick, along with several other nieces and nephews, will miss her dearly.

Janet also leaves behind her beloved dog, Mikey, who was a constant, loving companion.

Those who knew Janet will remember her as the epitome of love, kindness, and gentility. She had a remarkable way of making everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her gentle demeanor and selfless nature were evident in every aspect of her life, from the way she cared for her family to her involvement in her church and community.
