Ilda Viveiros Obituary

Ilda Natalia Viveiros, 100, known affectionately as Ilda to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Waterview Villa in East Providence. Born on December 19, 1923, in the picturesque island of Faial in the Azores, Ilda was the cherished daughter of the late Manuel DaCamara Viveiros and Teresa (DeJesus) Viveiros. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and the joy of simple pleasures.

Ilda's journey led her from the scenic landscapes of her birthplace to the vibrant community of East Providence, where she established her life and family. She was a devoted mother to her late son, Carlos Alberto Almeida, and a loving mother-in-law to Manuela Almeida of Tiverton. Her role as a grandmother was one she embraced with all her heart, nurturing and guiding her grandchildren Carlos A. Almeida, Jr., Richard Almeida, Robert Almeida and his partner Steve Richards, as well as Christopher Almeida and his wife Ashley Rook-Almeida. The light of her life extended to her great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Addison, and Chance, who will carry her legacy forward.

In her professional life, Ilda dedicated many years as a machine operator and factory worker for the former R and J Jewelry Manufacturing. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all she undertook. Yet, it was her unwavering support and presence that left an indelible mark on her colleagues and all who knew her.

A woman of deep faith, Ilda found solace and strength in reading her Bible and living out her religious convictions with grace. Her love for cooking and baking was renowned, especially her skill in cake decorating, which she did with an artist's touch. Ilda's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She loved to travel, discovering new places and experiences with a sense of wonder and adventure. Laughter was never far from Ilda, as she enjoyed watching comedy movies, finding joy in the light-hearted moments of life.

Gardening was another of Ilda's joys, and she could often be found tending to her plants with the same care and attention she gave to her family and friends. Her love for the outdoors extended to regular walks, a time for reflection and appreciation of the natural world around her.

Ilda's passing is deeply felt by her family, including her many nieces and nephews, who will miss her loving guidance and thoughtful presence. She was the embodiment of kindness, always putting others before herself and ensuring that those around her felt valued and loved. Ilda's legacy is one of compassion and warmth, which will continue to inspire and influence long after her passing.

As we say our final goodbyes to Ilda Natalia Viveiros, we remember a life beautifully lived and a soul that enriched the lives of so many. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons held close, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The absence of Ilda's gentle demeanor and generous heart will be felt profoundly by all, yet we take solace in the knowledge that her life was a journey well-traveled, filled with love, laughter, and the quiet grace of everyday blessings. May she rest in peace.
