He was predeceased by his brothers George Silva and John Silva. His life was further enriched by the love and laughter of many nieces and nephews who will miss his presence dearly.

A proud veteran, Gerry served his country with honor and distinction as a sergeant in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era. His expertise as a jet engine mechanic was a testament to his meticulous nature and mechanical prowess. After being discharged from the service, Gerry continued to apply his skills and dedicated over 40 years of his life to perfecting the craft of an autobody technician. His hands, always stained with evidence of hard work, fixed and restored countless vehicles in various autobody shops, earning him respect and admiration in the industry.

Gerry's passion for automobiles extended far beyond his professional life. He was an enthusiast of classic cars and the thrill of car racing. His adventurous spirit was often found at the heart of the racetrack, where the roar of engines and the excitement of competition mirrored his own zest for life.

Those who knew Gerry would describe him as handy, a person who could fix or build anything he set his mind to. His adventurous nature was balanced by a friendly demeanor that made him a beloved figure in his community and among his friends. Gerry's warm smile and readiness to lend a helping hand were hallmarks of his character.

In his leisure time, Gerry could be found tinkering in his garage, polishing a cherished classic car, or sharing stories of races past.
