WARREN - Dolores Garofalo, 92, of Warren, formerly of Cranston and Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Warren Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Luigi Garofalo, who passed away on March 22, 2011.
Born in Providence, RI, on May 19, 1931, Dolores was the loving daughter of the late Joseph B. Bento and Maria (Costa) Bento. She grew up in the Fox Point neighborhood of Providence and graduated from Hope High School. Dolores dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home as a homemaker.
Dolores was an active member of the community, having served as the past president of the D'Evan Manor in Cranston while residing there. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Fox Point, Providence. Dolores found joy in playing bingo and cherished her trips to Twin River Casino.
She is survived by her children, daughter Laura Sousa and her husband Bruce of Bristol, and son John J. Spencer of Pawtucket. Dolores is also survived by her grandchildren Kristen, Joshua, Sean, and Kaitlyn. She was predeceased by her brother, the late Joseph Bento, and is survived by a niece and nephew.
Dolores was the longtime companion of Edward Degrandpre of Cranston, sharing many special moments and creating lasting memories together.
Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend Dolores's funeral on Friday, November 24, 2023. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 AM in the REBELLO Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in her honor by Reverend Joseph Escobar at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect Street, Pawtucket.
