Riverside - Cheryl Ann (Gibbs) Nascimento, 69, affectionately known as Cheri to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, December 25, 2023, at Hope Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on January 7, 1954, in Newport, Rhode Island, Cheri's life was characterized by her unwavering kindness, her nurturing spirit, and her dedication to those she loved.
Cheri lived a colorful life and laid a strong foundation marked by compassion and service. Her close-knit family was a source of great joy and support throughout her life. She was a loving sister to Carl D. Gibbs of Nashville, TN, Kurt F. Salzillo of New Port Richey, FL, Guy Gibbs of Newport, RI, Robin J. Camelli of Woonsocket, RI, and she held dear the memory of her late brothers, Richard C Gibbs, Joseph Gibbs, and John Gibbs. Cheri was a devoted mother to her late son, James G. Nascimento, and a cherished grandmother to Brady P., Aiden, and Hailey Nascimento. Her role as an aunt to Jack and Kiefer Gibbs, and Jacob Salzillo was one she embraced with enthusiasm and love.
Cheri had a number of jobs, but the most cherished were as an Property/Merchandise Manager for Music City Merchandise of Nashville, Neon Sign Making for Joslin Signs, and traveling in the manufacturing industry. Her work ethic and attention to detail were unparalleled, and she was respected by her colleagues and associates alike. Cheri's dedication to her professions were matched only by her commitment to the well-being of those around her.
Those who knew Cheri will remember her for the love she extended not just to her family but to the many children and animals she cared for throughout her life. Her home was often a haven for those in need, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved was a gift to all who entered. Cheri's interests went beyond her immediate circle, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and community members alike. She specifically took pride in the children in East Nashville who she cared and built a grander family in, as well as her friends at home in Riverside who she always supported.
The words that best describe Cheri are loving, kind, and thoughtful. Her presence in a room was a source of comfort and her warmth could light up the darkest of days. Cheri's thoughtfulness extended into all aspects of her life, from remembering birthdays to offering a listening ear during tough times. Her legacy is one of love and selflessness, a thread that wove through every relationship and endeavor she undertook.
As we bid farewell to Cheri, we find comfort in the memories she leaves behind and the impact she made on each life she touched. Her spirit continues to be a beacon of love and kindness, guiding those she left behind. Cheri's passing is a profound loss to her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cheryl Ann (Gibbs) Nascimento's life will be celebrated in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched. As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of the importance of kindness, the value of family, and the enduring power of love. Cheri's light will continue to shine brightly in the memories we cherish and the love that endures.
In honor of Cheri's life and legacy, her family will gather in remembrance and thanksgiving for the gift of her presence in their lives. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the profound joy she brought to us all. Cheri's journey on earth may have concluded, but her spirit remains an integral part of the tapestry of our lives. We take solace in knowing that her love will forever be a part of us.
