Bonnie Oliver Obituary

East Providence -Bonnie Lynn Oliver, lovingly known as Bonnie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, at Hope Hospice in Providence, RI. Born on May 9, 1950, in Providence, Bonnie was a beacon of love and joy throughout her 73 years of life.

The cherished wife of John Oliver for over 52 years, Bonnie's unwavering commitment to her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted mother to John Oliver and his wife Rebecca of East Providence, and to Kerri Russo and her husband Jason, also of East Providence. Her love and guidance shaped the lives of her children, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Bonnie was born to the late George and Marjorie (Cundy) Baker and grew up surrounded by a loving family. She was the sister of George Baker, Jr. and his wife Betsey of Estero, Florida, and Nancy Hanoian and her husband Harry of Narragansett. Bonnie also held fond memories of her late sister Joyce M. Rebello, and remained close to her brother-in-law, Arthur Rebello of Riverside. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, doting on her grandchildren Anna Coelho, Jason Russo, Jr., Mya Oliver, and Cole Oliver. Her legacy continues through them, as well as through the many nieces and nephews who survive her.

Throughout her life, Bonnie dedicated herself to the well-being of her family as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. Her nurturing spirit was the glue that held her family together, creating a warm and loving home where all were welcome.

Bonnie's life was deeply rooted in East Providence, where she was a lifelong resident. Her faith was an important part of her life, reflected in her involvement with the former St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She was a familiar and beloved face at the East Providence Senior Center, where she engaged in various activities and forged lasting friendships.

Her interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. Bonnie possessed a creative spirit, which she expressed through crafting—a hobby that brought her immense joy and allowed her to share her talents with others. Her love for shopping was not just about the acquisition of goods but also about the experiences and the people she met along the way. Perhaps one of Bonnie's most endearing qualities was her great love of animals, which showcased her compassionate and caring nature.

Those who knew Bonnie will remember her as a loving, funny, selfless and courageous woman. Her laughter was infectious, her sense of humor a source of delight, and her bravery in the face of life's challenges an inspiration to all. Bonnie's presence could light up a room, and her absence will be deeply felt by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Bonnie's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her loved ones, a passion for her interests, and a kindness that extended to all creatures, great and small. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will continue to honor her legacy by embodying the love and laughter she brought into the world.

As we bid farewell to Bonnie Lynn Oliver, we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light to those who loved her, and her memory will be cherished for generations to come.
