Barbara M. (Amaral) Ferreira, of Bristol, Rhode Island, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Born in East Providence, RI, on August 1, 1937, to the late Sylvester and Maria Amaral, Barbara was a loving, loyal and vibrant person whose life brought joy to all who knew her.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Robert Anthony Ferreira, her husband of 65 years. Barbara was a devoted mother to Robert Ferreira (Amy Zinsser), Cheryl Ferreira (Michael Devane), and Mara Destino (Alex Destino). Barbara adored being a grandmother to Lauren Wells (Andrew Wells), Matthew Berkovitz, Mark Ferreira (Cris Zepeda McConnell), Annie Ferreira, Tess Destino, Maggie Destino and Tucker Destino, relishing every moment spent in their company. Barbara recently welcomed great-grandchildren Greyson and Bryn Wells and Theo Ferreira to her loving family.
Barbara will be remembered as a devoted and loyal friend and maintained many childhood friends over the years including childhood neighbors and classmates from Saint Mary Academy – Bay View.
Barbara’s family is heartbroken to lose her, but we will never lose our happy memories of all the fun we had together sharing stories and laughs in good times and bad. Her spirit lives on in us all.
A Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are most warmly invited to attend, will be celebrated in Barbara's honor by the Reverend Jorge Rocha on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside. Visitation has respectfully been omitted.
