Armindo Furtado Maroto

East Providence – Armindo Furtado Maroto, 86, of East Providence, passed away on Monday January 23,2023 at Hope Hospice, surrounded by his family.

Armindo was the husband of Maria O. (Rodrigues) Maroto, they were married for over 62 years.

He was born in Ribeiro Grande, Azores, Portugal the son of the late Jose De Rego Maroto and the late Jorgina Furtado (Tachina) Maroto.

Armindo was a Machine Operator for American Insulated Wire Company for over 36 years, before retiring.

He was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, he had raised homing pigeons, and was always working on his plants, trees and gardening in his yard.

He enjoyed traveling when he could.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Luis C. Maroto and wife Andrea of Portsmouth, Armindo R. Maroto and wife Donna of Rumford, and Stephen F. Maroto and wife Sara of Rumford.

Mr. Maroto was the grandfather of Matthew, Michael, Melinda, Alexandra and Bradley, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Agrinoalda F. Tavares, and the late Zenaide Larguinho.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 28,2023 at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
