North Providence -Antonio “Tony” Manuel V. Pereira,74, affectionately known as Tony, passed away on Thursday , October 26, 2023, at RI Hospital, Providence RI. Born on July 1, 1949, in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a man of integrity, love, and thoughtfulness.

Antonio was the cherished husband of Maria (Correia) Pereira, to whom he was married for over 51 years. He was the devoted father of Cliff Pereira and his wife, Elizabeth, of Blackstone, MA. Antonio was also the beloved brother of Joao Pereira of New Bedford, MA, and the late Jose Pereira. He was the proud uncle of Marisa Wilson, Kirsten Pereira, Andrew Pereira, and Neil Pereira. Antonio took great joy in his role as a grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his granddaughter, Avianna.

Tony was the son of the late Viriato Tavares Pereira and Elisa (Vicente) Pereira. He carried the values and lessons from his parents throughout his life, embodying their spirit of resilience, kindness, and generosity.

In his professional life, Tony dedicated over 20 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Fatima Hospital. His gentle nature and caring demeanor made him a cherished member of the team, touching the lives of many patients and colleagues alike. He was known for his unwavering dedication to his work and his ability to bring comfort and joy to those around him.

Antonio was a pillar of his community and took great pride in his involvement with St. Francis Xavier Church as a parishioner. His commitment to his faith was unwavering and was reflected in his life's work. He was also an active member of the feast Committee, where his enthusiasm and dedication to service were appreciated by all.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Tony was an avid fan of the Benfica soccer club. His love for the sport extended beyond being a spectator as he was also a soccer coach, instilling his passion and knowledge of the game in young athletes. His love for sports was just one of the many facets of his vibrant personality that endeared him to those around him.

Above all, Tony  was a loving caretaker for his wife and took great pleasure in spending time with his family. He was a gentle soul, always putting the needs of others before his own. His loving nature, combined with his thoughtfulness, made him an exceptional husband, father, brother, and friend.

In summary, Antonio Manuel Vicente Pereira was a man of many virtues. He was a beacon of love and gentleness in the lives of those he touched. His commitment to his family, profession, and community will be remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and he will be missed dearly.
