Obituary

Antonio D. Resendes, a longtime resident of East Providence, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on August 29, 2023, at Eastgate Nursing Home. Antonio was born on February 11, 1942, in the picturesque town of Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Manuel T and Virginia P. (Melo) Rezendes.

Antonio was the cherished brother of Maria R. Medeiros of Riverside and the beloved uncle of Lucille R. Medeiros of Riverside, Emanuel Rezendes of Warren, Mario Rezendes of Harrisville, and Nellie Silkes of Coventry. He was predeceased by his brothers Manuel Rezendes and Mario Rezendes. His family members will remember him as a pillar of strength and a source of endless love and support.

For many years, Antonio worked diligently as a Jewelry Polisher for the former Monet Jewelry Company. His colleagues appreciated his meticulous attention to detail and his unwavering commitment to excellence. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took great pride in contributing to the beauty and elegance of the finished pieces.

Antonio was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. His faith was a significant part of his life, and he lived his beliefs through his actions, showing kindness and compassion to all he met. His fellow parishioners admired his deep commitment to his faith, and his presence will be greatly missed within the church community.

In his leisure time, Antonio enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of his surroundings, often taking long walks to admire the landscapes of his adopted home in East Providence. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Antonio's life was a testament to his strong character and his enduring faith. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. His life was a true embodiment of the values he held dear - love, family, and faith.

In honor of Antonio's life, let us remember him not with sorrow but with gratitude for the love and joy he brought into our lives. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His funeral will be held on Tuesday September 5, 2023, at 8:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:0am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence, RI. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Tuesday MORNING from 8:30-9:30am.
