CRANSTON - Antonio A. Garcia, 86, of Cranston, formerly of Sao Miguel, Azores, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023 at home with family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of the late Maria O. (Mourato) Garcia, who passed away on May 23, 2023.
Born on November 22, 1936 on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, he was a loving son of the late Augusto and Conceicao Garcia.
Antonio grew up in the Azores and lived there most of his life, traveling to America, a country he loved deeply, to work in the construction industry and spend time with his family. He was a true “family man”, always taking care of them while instilling in them his strong work ethic.
He was the devoted father of Eduardo Garcia and his wife Helena of Cranston, Carlos Garcia of Warwick, Michael Garcia of Cranston, Pedro Garcia of Providence, Delia Medeiros of Seekonk, Theresa Pavao of Cranston, and Ana Garcia of West Warwick. He was the dear brother of three brothers and two sisters, all in Portugal. He was the cherished grandfather of twenty-two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Joseph Garcia.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, beginning with a time for visitation from 9:30-10:30 AM in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, that will be celebrated in his honor by the Reverend Joseph Escobar, at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside.
