Antonio Victoria Custodio, 94, of East Providence, R.I., passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria Jose (Bravo) Custodio. Born August 26, 1928, in Ribeira Seca, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Manuel and Deolinda (Victoria) Custodio.
Antonio came to the United States in 1967.
He worked as a Machine Operator for Key Container Corporation for twenty-six years, retiring in 1993. He was a faithful parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Church. Antonio loved his family and enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his fig tree and grapevine. He was an avid soccer fan of Benfica.
Besides his wife of sixty-three years, he leaves one daughter, Arminda Simas and husband Jose of Bristol R.I., one son, Antonio A. Custodio of North Attleboro, Massachusetts. He also leaves four grandchildren, Ashley Gay and husband Peter, Nicholas Custodio, Andrew Custodio, Alexander Custodio, five great- grandchildren, Rebecca Gay, Riley Gay, Aiden Gay, Patrick Gay, Tiago Custodio and several nieces and nephews. Antonio was the brother of the late Manuel, Jose, Elurito, Moises, Dinis and Maria.
His Funeral will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, at 8:30 am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, R.I., to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Francis Xavier Church, N. Carpenter Street. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Riverside, R.I.,
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Funeral Home.
