Anthony White Obituary

East Providence - With a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and unyielding love for his family, Anthony Joseph White passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Linn Health Care in East Providence. Born on December 20, 1948, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Anthony, known affectionately by those close to him as Tony, was a beacon of strength and creativity in the lives of all who knew him.

Anthony was the beloved husband of Gail (Bence) English-White and the cherished son of the late Antonio C. and Theresa (Reis) White. His legacy of love and guidance lives on through his son Adam J. White of Richmond, RI, and stepdaughter Marcie English of Coventry, RI. He was a caring brother to Diane Brennan of East Providence and the late Elizabeth Patenaude. His role as a doting uncle to Frederick, Essance, Evangeline, and the late Josephine Patenaude brought him immense joy. The light of his wisdom and joy will continue to shine in the lives of his grandchildren, Braedin and Kaia English, and Charlotte Elizabeth White, who will miss their grandfather deeply.

Anthony's unwavering patriotism was exemplified through his honorable service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication were recognized with the awarding of a Bronze Star, a testament to his courage and commitment to his country. Following his military service, Anthony dedicated over 20 years of his life as a hardworking tool repairman before transitioning to a buyer for South Shore Millworks, where he continued to demonstrate his remarkable work ethic for more than five years.

An avid outdoorsman, Anthony's love for nature was evident in his many hobbies. He was an enthusiastic skier and cyclist, often found exploring the scenic trails and slopes with friends and family. His passion for local fairs, coupled with cherished moments spent at Cape Cod and visiting his cousin's farm in New Hampshire, were among his favorite pastimes. Anthony's skills as a master carpenter shone through his membership with the Somerset Sportsman's Club, where he was not only a member but a friend to many. He also loved cooking and baking.

Anthony's hands were rarely still, as his love for gardening brought life to beautiful blooms and bountiful harvests that were the envy of his neighbors. He was a man of many talents, with the unique ability to fix or create almost anything, earning him the reputation of being incredibly handy and creative. Those who knew Anthony would describe him as courageous, a man who faced life's challenges with a steadfast heart and unwavering resolve.

As we bid farewell to Anthony, we remember a man who epitomized the virtues of hard work, family devotion, and the joy of simple pleasures. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt the warmth of his smile and the kindness of his spirit.

Anthony's life will be celebrated in a private gathering, where stories will be shared, and his life will be honored in the presence of those he loved most. As the sun sets on a life well-lived, we take comfort in knowing that Anthony Joseph White's legacy will endure through the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the natural world he so deeply cherished.
