Aldina T. (Tavares) Mello

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Manuel DaCosta and Senhorinha DeSousa (Farias) Tavares.

Mrs. Mello worked for Davol Rubber Company for many years as an assembler. More importantly, she was a health keeper and a tireless worker with only one goal in life: to provide for and love her family.

She leaves one daughter, Delores Hockey, and her husband Mike of Arlington, Virginia; one sister, Senhorina Soares of Providence; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mello was the mother of the late Arnold Mello Jr. and sister of the late Georgina DePonte, Luis Tavares, Mary Farias, Luis Tavares, Silvino Tavares, Jose Tavares, and Adelaide Lisbour.

Visiting hours and a funeral will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Traverse Street, Providence, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wampanoag Trail, Riverside. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rebello Funeral Home.
