Agostinho Vieira Matos

Rumford – Agostinho V. Matos, 84, of Rumford, passed away on Saturday November 19 2022 ,surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Maria C. Rodrigues (Torres) Matos.

Agostinho was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Manuel Vieira Matos and Maria do Espirito Santo (Ferreira) Matos.

He was a polisher for the Martin Copeland, company for over 15 years.

Mr. Matos was veteran of the Portuguese Army. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

He was a Fox Point resident for many years, he also enjoyed gardening, fishing, landscaping, having picnics at the beach with his family.

Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters Fatima Carvalho of Seekonk, Lydia Matos of Cranston, Stephanie Matos of Rumford.

He was father in law of Manuela (Viveiros) Matos of the Azores.

He was the brother of Manuel Francisco Vieira Matos, of the  Azores.

Mr. Matos was the grandfather of Tatiana, Justin, Tamrra, Ciara, Diana, Raquel, and Jaymin.

He was also the great grandfather of Nazalya, Matilde, Azaria, Kylie and Myles.

Mr. Matos is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Madelina Machado, Margarida Casado, and Antonio Matos.

Agostinho was the father of the late Tony Matos and the grandfather of the late Leo Carvalho.

Mr. Matos was also the father in law of the late Armando Carvalho.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 7:30am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail , East Providence, RI.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Saturday morning from 7:30 – 9:30am.
