Richard A. Solomon, 77, of Providence passed away on Friday, December 29th, at Miriam Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Providence, RI, to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Stevens) Solomon.

He was the loving husband of Janice (Carpenter) Solomon for 50 years. He leaves two daughters; Cara A. McLinden and her husband, John of Wakefield, RI, and Jeanne Moulton and her husband, Michael of Charlotte, NC, and a son, Richard A. Solomon Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Wake Forest, NC. His six precious grandchildren, John Jr., Andrew, Erinn, Tristen, Caden and Drew were his pride and joy. He is also survived by a sister, Janice Moretti of Cranston, RI, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Richard was a self-employed carpenter known for his historic restoration work. Beginning in high school, he restored many homes along Benefit Street, and his love of woodworking grew to become a lifelong passion. He was a graduate of the Wentworth Institute, served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Rhode Island Builders’ Association.

Visitation to which family and friends are invited will be held at the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2. His funeral will be on Wednesday, January 3, at 8:45AM from the Rebello Funeral Home followed by a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. George Maronite Catholic Church, Cranston, RI. Burial with Military Honors will be at Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro, MA.
