Simon, Louise Marie, age 88, of Traverse Street in Fox Point died October 27, 2012 at the Tockwotton Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Charles Melad Simon. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Irene (Barboza) Medeiros.

Louise was an active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish for many years. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, a CCD teacher and worked at the annual feasts. She was employed by Sullivan Jewelry and her work also aided in the war effort during WWII. Her home was always opened to family and friends. Louise was a wonderful cook and baker; it was never unusual to find people gathered in her kitchen. She spent her summers at her home away from home on Martha's Vineyard. There her days were spent on the beach with her daughter and her "beach buddies". Her summer home was always opened to relatives and friends. She enjoyed entertaining at the family "inn".

She is survived by her devoted daughter Luanne Simon of East Providence and her sister Jennie Thatch of Seekonk. She was the sister of the late Mary Costa, Irene Perry, Claire Howe, Rose Fay, Joseph, Frank and Ernest Medeiros.

Her funeral will begin on Friday at 10 AM in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church; Traverse St., Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Hope Alzheimer's Center, 25 Brayton Ave., Cranston, RI 02920

Louise's family would like to thank the employees of the Hope Center, Healthcare Connections, The Tockwotton Home and the RIDE program. Their love and dedication will never be forgotten.
